Competition... Finally Over!!!!

This past Saturday, my son's long waited competition day came. It was originally scheduled for March 8. However, due to a bad weather, it was postponed to April 5. He played Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor, 1st movement.
This change of schedule threw him off quite a bit. The night before, he had to play with his youth orchestra for Martin Luther King, Jr's 40th anniversary of his assassination, so he didn't get to practice much that day. Then the morning came. I let him sleep a little longer and had some breakfast and he did some scales and ran through the piece. I read somewhere this girl practiced too much right before the competition and by the time she had to play, her fingers were too tired. So I let him take it easy. Around 12:30pm, we headed to the location and met up with the pianist and ran through once more, but slowly:) in the practice room. They were called at 1:40pm. I just stood outside the door and listened to him play. Some high notes sounded a hair line flat time to time. Other than that, he did well. He didn't forget the dynamics! My husband was watching him through the other door which had a glass window. He told me that after he finished playing he didn't even bow to the judges and walked out of the room. Oh, well, this is where the 11 year old comes out... All of a sudden, I felt so tired. I guess my anticipation for this was greater than I thought. Everything is over now. My son loves Sushi, so we decided to take him to a Sushi bar. Unfortunately, it was closed. We missed their lunch hours. Guess we ended up having late lunch....Tacobell!!:)
